Fukuoka's iconic open-air food stalls lining the Naka River, serving ramen, oden, and yakitori.
The Nakasu yatai stalls are Fukuoka's most iconic street food experience—a row of open-air food stalls set up nightly along the Naka River in the city's entertainment district. Dating back to the post-war era, these charming stalls serve Hakata ramen, yakitori, oden, and gyoza under plastic-wrapped canopies. Sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with locals at the narrow counters, illuminated by warm lantern light, is a quintessentially Fukuoka experience.

Tips for Visitors
Stalls open around 18:00-19:00 and close around midnight to 2:00 AM. Weekday evenings are less crowded. Each stall seats 8-12 people, so waits can occur. Prices are slightly higher than restaurants (expect ¥2,000-4,000). Check if a stall has a menu displayed before sitting. Rainy nights may see closures.
